Diana Gallo (Private Piano) has been a piano instructor with VIBE since 1997. With a Bachelor of Arts in Piano from Loyola Marymount University and a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Cal Sate University, Northridge, her expertise is in the art of teaching piano. She is currently a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, and has been president of the local branch in Santa Clarita for two years. Instructing all ages and levels, Diana incorporates rhythm, composition, the basic fundamentals of music, notes, ear training, and reading music. Her students play in recitals at least twice a year, and many are entered in state piano competitions. Diana truly enjoys bringing music into the lives of her students. “My love of music prompted me to focus on teaching. Witnessing a student’s excitement when they learn something new or complete a piece, renews my love of teaching at every lesson. By participating in recitals, the student learns discipline by working toward a goal, and can feel a great sense of accomplishment!”
Timothy A. Helisek (Group Keyboard Classes & Private Piano) is the first place winner of the 2004 edition of the Normandale Composer’s Competition for his classical chamber piece ‘Beauty in Sadness.”Dancing Towards the Sun,’ also a chamber piece, won first place in the same competition in 2005, as well as second place in the Minnesota Music Educators Association Composition Contest the same year. ‘Ars Moriendi,’ a work for large orchestra, was given an Honorable Mention in the 2012 Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute.
Heidi Secor (Group Keyboard Classes)brings her experience, knowledge, and love for music into her teaching. Raised in a musical family, she began playing the piano by age 4 and composing music by age 8. After studying classical and jazz piano for over 12 years, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a Supplemental Authorization in Music at Cal State University, Northridge. A piano instructor and music teacher with 17 years experience, she has instructed private and group piano lessons, theory, flutophones, recorders, handbells, and singing. She taught at Hillcrest Christian School for 10 years as a teacher of music, computer, art, choir, and chapel. Her love of music can also be seen in her various activities including a 3-week tour to the Soviet Union with the CSU Northridge Singers; singing opera in “The Pirates of Penzance” with the Pasadena Lyric Opera; leading worship for over 10 years as keyboardist and soloist at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship; and Christmas Caroling with the Santa Clarita Carolers with Vibe Performing Arts Studios. After directing 30 children’s musicals, organizing A.C.S.I. Piano Festivals and recitals and teaching over 400 students every year, Heidi has settled down to raise 2 children of her own but continues to teach piano/keyboard.
Caid Jones (Group Keyboard Classes & Private Piano). Caid hopes to bring his students to an understanding of music through rhythm, melody, and harmony. His goal is to produce a generation of musicians who are dedicated to their own musicianship, who have an appreciation and understanding of all genres of music, and who pursue the otherwise unattainable community that being a confident musician provides.
Kris Feldman (Private Piano) has been a private instructor of voice, flute, piano, and music theory since 1984, and has been teaching in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1994. Her students have gone on to perform in the Los Angeles Opera Company, and in Regional Theatre and National Touring Companies for Hairspray, The King And I, The Music Man, Jekyll and Hyde, A Little Night Music, Fiddler On the Roof, My Fair Lady, Edges, Cats, and many other great musicals.She has been an Individual Voice Instructor at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and Musicians Institute in Hollywood, and has taught vocal workshops from coast to coast in Musical Theatre and Rock styles. A professional performer since the age of 10, Kris began her career in the world of sacred music in the cathedrals of St. Patrick’s and St. John the Divine in New York City. Kris’s live performances have included all styles of music, including Jazz, Pop, Country, Bluegrass, Broadway, Classical, and Rock.
Brittney Westover (Private Piano)began her formal training at the age of nine and enthusiastically sang in talent shows, recitals, karaoke contests, and choirs. Studying at Cal State University, Fullerton as a Vocal Performance major, she received classical training and Brittney learned to sing in several different languages. A desire to have a more contemporary experience in her musical education, she then transferred to the world-renowned Musicians’ Institute in Hollywood to study Jazz, Latin, Rock, R&B, Country, Heavy Metal, Pop, and Funk. Graduating from M.I. earning a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. She is a dedicated, knowledgeable, and patient teacher who encourages her students to find a spark within them and follow their dreams.
